The highest-paid athletes of 2024 have been revealed. Forbes just unveiled their annual countdown of the highest paid players in sports, and there’s some very interesting data about the top earners. The No. 1 highest-paid athlete of the year earned an estimated $260 million in the past 12 months, and this isn’t his first time at the top. It’s his fourth! The world’s Top 50 highest-paid athletes brought in a staggering $3.88 billion in the past year (before taxes and fees), which is an increase of 13% from last year’s tally. 76% of those earnings came from salaries, bonuses and prizes, while the other 24% is things like endorsements, licensing and appearances. (Interestingly, that figure is down 13% year-over-year.) The NBA has the most players on the list (19), the NFL has 11, and soccer comes in third, with eight players in the Top 50.
