Liverpool have started their transfer plans as they prepare for a busy summer at Anfield.

The Reds were on their way to a brilliant end to the season but results in the last two months have changed the course of their campaign.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were fighting for the Premier League, FA Cup and the Europa League.

However, they will only finish the season with a Carabao Cup victory in Klopp’s farewell season.

As Arne Slot prepares to take over from the German tactician, the club is already thinking about their summer transfer window plans.

A position that the club is keen to address is the centre-back position, with the Reds determined to make an important addition to it.

There have been calls from the fans to sign a reliable striker, a wide player, a midfielder but it seems like the club is more interested in signing a centre-back.

Journalist Sami Mokbel has stated that Liverpool are seriously considering signing Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi on The Josh & Darko Show.

“I think Marc Guehi is an interesting proposition for not only Liverpool but a number of top Premier League clubs,” Mokbel explained.

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has attracted interest from Liverpool.

“Heading into the summer he’ll have two years left on his contract so this summer would be the optimum point if Crystal Palace were going to sell him.

“Unfortunately he picked up that knee injury that required surgery a few weeks ago but he’s close to returning and he’ll definitely be back before the end of the season. From what I understand that is a live option for Liverpool, I think that is one they’re taking very seriously and one they’re looking at.”

Liverpool need defensive depth and quality

Signing a central defender makes sense for Liverpool as Joel Matip is set to leave the club at the end of this season when his contract expires.

The form of Ibrahima Konate is a huge concern for the club and getting a defender who can fill in for him whenever needed is going to be a clever move.

Reports have suggested that the Palace defender will cost around £50m, however, with just two years left on his contract, the Eagles are not in a strong position.

The 23-year-old defender is already experienced at the top level and his nine-caps for England show how much he is rated by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.
