They give up. There are all kinds of things that come together to make a wrestler work and one of the most important is the nickname. Some of the biggest names in the history of wrestling have had some very unique names, many of which have gone hand in hand with them. You can often know one of them when you hear it, but now you will not be hearing one of them again.

According to Fightful, WWE has officially dropped its attempt to trademark the name “Big Time Becks” as a nickname for Becky Lynch. The company had been attempting to secure the trademark as recently as last month but officially filed paperwork to abandon the attempt on May 24. Lynch had used the “Big Time Becks” name during her time as a villain in WWE. A man named James K. Duck had filed the trademark, as well as the term “Bigtime” in wrestling.

Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise, as Lynch has not used the nickname in a good while now and there is little reason for WWE to pursue it any longer. If it was something that they absolutely needed, I have a feeling that money would talk and WWE would have gotten their way, but ultimately it might not be worth the sake of their headaches and efforts to secure the trademark.
