Thomas Tuchel reportedly issued a damning statement to his players after their loss to Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

The reigning champions' chances of retaining their title took a huge hit last weekend when they fell to a 3-0 defeat at the BayArena.

Xabi Alonso's side, who remain unbeaten, displayed their class against Bayern in what was a fairly comfortable victory.

Leverkusen now sit five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga with 13 matches left to play are being tipped to go all the way this season.

It's a result that could hugely impact Bayern's chances of winning silverware this season and Tuchel did not hold back afterwards.

As reported by Sky Germany, he told his players: "You're not as good as I thought."

Before adding: "Then I just have to adapt to your level."

Matters were made worse for the German giants just four days later when they lost 1-0 to Lazio in the Champions League last-16 first leg.

Bayern still have the second leg to overcome the deficit, but cracks are beginning to show in one of Europe's most dominant clubs.

Tuchel led the club to their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title last season, doing so on the final day to beat rivals Borussia Dortmund.

However, Tuchel, who won the Champions League in 2021 with Chelsea, is now coming under increasing pressure and is facing a fight to save his job.
