In what has been a major turn of events, coach Xavi Hernandez’s continuity in Barcelona is once again under threat.

However, unlike earlier this year, Xavi is not leaving of his own volition but appears to have sparked anger from the Barça board of directors for his recent statements in which he highlighted the club’s financial limitations.

This contradicted the optimistic message Xavi had shared earlier at Laporta’s house, leaving Laporta disappointed.

Now, a departure looks nearly imminent, with the club reportedly on the hunt for a suitable successor.

The Tuchel option

Similar to Xavi, Tuchel announced a pre-mature resignation from Bayern Munich a few months ago.

Recently, the Bavarians offered the German a chance to stay put, with the dressing room reportedly vouching for his continuity.

However, as per Christian Falk, Tuchel has declined Bayern’s offer, as he has no intention of continuing.

This development comes at an opportune time, with the Barcelona bench more accessible than ever now.

After all, Tuchel was considered one of the options to succeed Xavi before the Spanish coach was confirmed to remain as the Barcelona head coach.

The arrival of Tuchel will certainly not take a toll on Barcelona’s pocket since he will be a free agent, giving rise to the possibility of his arrival.

Who else is on Barcelona’s radar?

As per prior reports, Rafa Marquez, Hansi Flick, and Sergio Conceicao are also coaches who garner consensus from the Barcelona boardroom.

Flick’s record with Bayern Munich and Rafa Marquez’s solid work with Barcelona Atletic render them realistic options, considering they will also not have a detrimental effect on the finances.

But time will tell who Barça settles for and whether there is another twist in the tale. For now, all options are open.
