Adam Cole has been sidelined for several months due to an unexpected ankle injury. Since then, he has been seen moving around while sitting in a wheelchair. A few weeks ago, Cole ditched the wheelchair and was able to walk on his own two feet. But still, Cole has not returned to action.

Recently, the AEW president and CEO, Tony Khan revealed the reason why the leader of the Undisputed Kingdom has not had a wrestling match yet despite seeming to have recovered from his injury.

Tony Khan was interviewed by CBS Sports. During the interview, the president of the Jacksonville-based promotion revealed that Adam Cole, while is getting better every single day, he is still not at 100%. Khan also claimed that the former WWE NXT World Champion getting cleared to wrestle would be great for AEW.

Great news for AEW

“He’s not 100% but he’s getting better and better,” Tony Khan said. “I think that’s great news for AEW. We love Adam Cole and the fans love Adam Cole. He’s been a big part of the company now for almost three years of our five-year journey. It’s crazy to think Adam Cole, a year ago at this time, really felt like he was getting towards the top of the wrestling world.

“I would love to get Adam Cole back in the ring and he works so hard on his rehab. He really wants to get back in the ring. I think that would be a great thing for AEW.”

The seeds for Cole’s first feud once he is medically cleared have already been planted with MJF’s return at AEW Double or Nothing. Cole even referenced his status during his promo at Double Or Nothing, noting that he can’t wait to get back in the ring once he’s fully healed.

Are you looking forward to seeing Adam Cole return to in-ring action?
