Tony Khan wears many proverbial hats in AEW.

Khan is the President, CEO, General Manager, and Head of Creative at AEW. He is rarely seen wearing an actual hat on air (save for special occasions like the Owen Hart Cup, or when Toni Storm requests it). However, he’s worn two Warner Bros. Discovery-branded hats in recent interviews that fans believe hint at AEW’s new media rights deal.

Tony Khan wore a WBD hat during last week’s appearance on The Dan LeBatard Show. He also wore a blue ‘Max’ hat on Wednesday’s new episode of Rasslin’. Max, of course, is the streaming service that fans speculate could be a potential streaming home for AEW.

After discussing their favorite Tom Cruise movies (and Cocktail getting no love at all), host Brandon Walker asked Khan the obvious question — why is he wearing a Max hat?

Why is Tony Khan wearing a Max hat?

“I was given this hat, and it’s a lovely hat. I think it’s a wonderful streaming service. And this hat was gifted to me in Paris as part of a great backpack of stuff I had in my hotel room when I got there for the Olympics,” Tony Khan said. “I spent great time there with Mr. David Zaslav and all the great people at Warner Bros. Discovery. They were very kind to us.”

AEW’s new media rights deal has yet to be finalized. The latest update on negotiations came from Fightful (via Fightful Select). The outlet reports that WBD sources claim there’s still some “red tape” to cut through, but the company made a new offer to AEW that they are confident in.

According to the report, the offer was made after Khan met with Zaslav in Paris, and the meeting was considered to be a productive one.
