Tony Khan comments on the anniversary of Jay Briscoe’s death.
On January 17, 2023, Jamin Pugh, also known as Jay Briscoe, lost his life in a car crash. He is survived by his widow, Ashley, and their daughters Jayleigh and Gracie. Jamin, or Jay, was a beloved figure in the wrestling world, both for his excellence as a performer and for his kindness.
In a tweet on January 17, 2024, AEW CEO Tony Khan commented on the anniversary of Jay Briscoe’s death by stating that he was an amazing man. He wrote that Jamin’s legacy would live forever through his spirit, his wrestling, and the memories we all share. Khan also stated that his legacy lives on in the amazing Pugh family, who have so much love in their hearts.
1 year ago today, 1/17/23, Jamin Pugh, an amazing man known worldwide as Jay Briscoe, was taken from this Earth.
His legacy will live forever through his spirit, his wrestling, memories we all share, + most of all in the amazing Pugh family who have so much love in their hearts.
Jay and his brother Mark Briscoe were one of the best tag teams of their generation. They were 13-time ROH World Tag Team Champions, and they were inducted into the ROH Hall of Fame in 2022. The duo won the Crockett Cup in 2022, and they also held titles in NJPW, NOAH, and IMPACT. Additionally, Jay was a two-time ROH World Champion.
Mark is currently signed to AEW/ROH, and he continues to wrestle in honor of his brother. He recently discussed the loss of Jamin. Check out his comments here.
