Tony Khan explains why The Boys were released by AEW earlier this week.
All Elite Wrestling made several talent cuts on April 1, two of which were The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate). Khan was asked by ProWrestling.net’s Jason Powell if he could comment on the reason behind all of the releases. Khan said that all of the releases were different and a fluid situation, but noted how they had to stay competitive if they wanted to attract free agents.
WrestleZone’s Bill Pritchard followed-up and asked if Khan could expand on his answer in regard to The Boys’ releases, noting how they were involved in a recent storyline with Dalton Castle and The Boys.
Tony Khan once again noted how each situation was different, and praised the work of Castle and Johnny TV. Khan said he always tries to be honest on his media calls, and revealed that one reason the Tates were cut was because they didn’t show up for work on more than one occasion, and that was unacceptable.
The Boys had been paired with Dalton Castle since 2015. They had been together in Ring Of Honor under multiple ownership groups. Their last storyline saw Johnny TV beat Castle in a custody match for The Boys on February 29, 2024.
