Manchester United are actively looking to make new signings this summer in order to improve the level of the squad and address the issues they faced last season.
After finishing eighth in the Premier League and finishing the season with a negative goal difference, the Red Devils are now working towards finding solutions to their problems and support manager Erik ten Hag in the transfer market.
New Man United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is determined to take the club back to the top of English football and in order to do that, he has decided to help the club sign world class players.
The Red Devils are linked with moves for Joshua Zirkzee, the striker from Bologna while the club have seen two bids rejected for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
There have been reports of interest in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte while Lille’s Leny Yoro remains high on the priority list.
However, Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt is the player who is keen on a move to Man United to reunite with former manager ten Hag after their successful time together at Ajax.
Matthijs de Ligt wants to join Man United this summer.Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has told GiveMeSport that the Dutch defender has no other club on his mind and has decided to move to Old Trafford.
He said:
“The manager knows him very well since their time together at Ajax. So the idea of Matthijs de Ligt is to go to Manchester United, and he’s giving total priority to Man United in terms of personal terms negotiations. Despite all the links we also had with other clubs, the focus of Matthijs de Ligt is on Man United. His agent, Rafaela Pimenta, is only negotiating with Manchester United.”
Signing de Ligt is a no brainer for Man United
The Bayern defender is open to a move to Man United and he is ready for new challenge after losing his place to Kim-min Jae and Eric Dier at the Allianz Arena.
The defender has performed well under ten Hag in the past and the manager knows the player well having developed him from a young age.
It could be a match made in heaven and a major coup for United if de Ligt can join the club and become Lisandro Martinez’s partner in defense at Old Trafford.
