Manchester United are interested in signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace this summer but Tottenham are believed to be leading the race for the England star.
The 25-year-old has been a standout player for the Eagles over the last two seasons, hitting double figures in terms of goals in the Premier League in each campaign.
His form has seen him recognised by England manager Gareth Southgate and Eze will be heading to his first major tournament this summer at Euro 2024 in Germany.
The former QPR man has also caught the attention of other Premier League clubs, with Spurs and Manchester United named among his potential suitors.
The Sun report that Tottenham are in a better position to make a move for the forward who has a release clause of £60m.
Spurs are in a healthy position when it comes to Profit and Sustainability Rules and could make a move for Eze without having to bring in any cash.
Manchester United, in contrast, will have to sell to make significant moves in the transfer market this summer, which is clearly a possibility, but makes things more difficult for them.
Eze’s agents CAA Base also represent Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou and star players Son Heung-min and James Maddison, while the company also have a box at Tottenham’s stadium.
Postecoglou is believed to want a number of signings this summer and Eze would use up a large chunk of Tottenham’s transfer budget, but the club are in a strong position to move.
Crystal Palace want to keep hold of one of their star players and will not be accepting offers below his release clause as Oliver Glasner tries to improve on his strong start at the club.
Under the Austrian’s leadership Palace won six and drew one of their last seven Premier League games, finishing 10th in the top flight.
