Lucas Bergvall is the talk of the town on the January transfer deadline day with Barcelona battling Tottenham Hotspur to secure the teenage midfielder’s services.
The 17-year-old wonderkid has been on Barça’s radars for a long time now and a move to the Catalan club looked tied up not very long ago.
However, Tottenham have made a late hijack attempt to try and lure the Djurgardens midfield talent away, posing a big challenge to Barcelona.
The Lilywhites are making a hard push for Bergvall and have put forth an important proposal to beat Barça to his signing.
Tottenham enlist Dejan Kulusevski to convince Bergvall
Now, a report from Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham have enlisted the help of Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski to convince Bergvall to snub Barcelona in favour of a move to north London.
It is no secret that Bergvall was in Barcelona this week with his agents and family and held meetings with club officials, including sporting director Deco.
However, prior to his visit to Catalonia, the teenager had stopped by in London on Monday where he was given a tour of the Spurs’ facilities.
During that visit, Kulusevski is understood to have accompanied Bergvall and his entourage, telling them about the club and trying to convince him to accept the Lilywhites’ proposal instead of Barcelona’s.
Barcelona cautious about Bergvall situation
Given the developments, Barcelona are now cautious about the Bergvall situation even though they were confident about receiving a green light from him not so long ago.
As for the midfield whizkid, there is no deadline set for his decision as the idea is for him to make his move in the summer, be it to Barça or Tottenham.
For the longest time, it was believed that Bergvall would choose the Blaugrana. But the delays in him giving the go-ahead could mean Spurs may have a chance to secure his services.
