Last week, Nigerian troops conducted extensive operations across various regions, resulting in the elimination of 188 terrorists and the rescue of 133 hostages.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, revealed these achievements during a briefing in Abuja.
In total, 330 terrorists were apprehended nationwide, accompanied by the confiscation of significant weaponry, including 122 AK47 rifles, 47 locally-made guns, and various other arms and ammunition.
In the Northeast, under “Operation Hadin Kai,” 68 terrorists were eliminated, 182 suspects apprehended, and 53 hostages rescued. Noteworthy seizures included 58 AK47 rifles and explosives. Additionally, airstrikes targeted terrorist logistics hubs, resulting in neutralizing several terrorists.
In the North Central, troops of “Operation Safe Haven” eliminated 14 insurgents, while “Operation Whirl Stroke” neutralized 11 terrorists and rescued 11 hostages. The Northwest operations under “Operation Hadarin Daji” resulted in the elimination of 62 terrorists and the rescue of 45 hostages, with successful interdictions on terrorist hideouts.
In the South-South, “Operation Delta Safe” eradicated illegal refining sites and seized stolen crude oil. Nine insurgents were neutralized, and 67 individuals involved in illegal activities were apprehended, along with the recovery of weapons and ammunition.
In the Southeast, “Operation UDO KA” neutralized 15 terrorists, arrested 56 extremists, and rescued 17 hostages, seizing arms and ammunition.
All recovered items, suspects, and hostages were handed over for further action. These operations reflect the military’s commitment to combating terrorism and restoring peace across Nigeria’s regions.
