Panic ensued on Friday when an unidentified woman died while in transit in a tricycle at Isheri, Idimu area of Lagos State.
The woman boarded the tricycle along the Isheri-Igando Road, heading toward Isheri. Upon reaching her stop, the rider notified her, but she did not respond. The rider then discovered she was motionless.
An eyewitness reported that the rider called for help, drawing the attention of passersby who confirmed that the woman was no longer breathing. “I was near the Isheri bus stop when I heard the tricycle rider shouting for help. We saw a woman unresponsive, her head resting on the tricycle’s barricade,” he said.
The rider explained that he expected the woman to pay her fare and leave but found her unresponsive, prompting him to raise the alarm. The scene quickly became crowded.
Another eyewitness, Sodiq, mentioned that local residents tried to revive her but failed. The police soon arrived, causing the crowd to disperse to avoid implication. “Some suggested she might have suffered from an ailment or a heart attack,” Sodiq added.
The tricycle was taken to the Idimu police station, and the deceased was transported to an undisclosed hospital. Attempts to reach Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin were unsuccessful, as calls and messages went unanswered at the time of this report.
