You can see athletes coming in from other sports and having quite the success in the ring, but it is rare to see it go the other way. It does happen every so often as wrestlers are incredible athletes and now another sport is taking its chance on a very talented wrestler.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Working On It: Update On Randy Orton’s Injury Status
According to ESPN, the NFL’s Buffalo Bills have signed former WWE Superstar Gable Steveson despite Steveson having no major football experience. Steveson will play defensive line for the team and has signed a three year rookie contract. This comes as Steveson was released from WWE in May following a two and a half year run with the company that saw him wrestle one televised match.

Opinion: While I’m not sure people saw the NFL coming for Steveson, it was pretty clear that he wasn’t getting anything out of his time in WWE. At some point you have to show that you are able to make a big step forward and that was never the case with him. Maybe football will be a better fit for him, because it was becoming more and more obvious that a change was going to have to be made.
