TV personality Gino D’Acampo, best known for his work on ITV‘s This Morning and hosting numerous shows with Gordon Ramsay and Fred Sirieix, has been accused of inappropriate conduct and intimidating behavior by more than a dozen people.
An ITV news investigation, which broadcast earlier tonight, spoke with multiple people who have worked with him in the past and described D’Acampo making sexualized remarks that made them feel highly uncomfortable, as they detailed incidents that go back many years.
One woman said in 2011 D’Acampo told her he would “like to turn me over and f*** me up the a*** against the kitchen counter.” Another said that on a shoot he opened the door to his room wearing only boxer shorts before making reference to his penis. A third sent in a statement saying D’Acampo said to someone: “If you don’t get me a Cornetto I will f*** your girlfriend.” His response to these claims can be read below.
Many more allegations of this ilk were made and aired on ITV News tonight.
D’Acampo has done most of his work for ITV over the years. He cuts a jovial figure on screen and was a regular on ITV’s This Morning with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, the latter of whom left that show in 2023 following an inappropriate relationship with a much younger colleague. D’Acampo has appeared in multiple seasons and spin-off versions of the Gordon, Gino & Fred franchise with Ramsay and Sirieix, and recently hosted ITV gameshow Family Fortunes. He won I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2009.
D’Acampo “firmly denied” the allegations to ITV News and said they were “deeply upsetting.” “I have been told by ITN news that allegations have been made about me acting inappropriately, some dating back over ten years ago,” he added. “I have never been made aware of these matters previously and the allegations are firmly denied. I do not recognise the version of events being put to me.” His full statement can be read below. We have reached out to his agent for further comment.
ITV News reported that Gordon, Gino & Fred producer Objective Media Group had received complaints in 2018 over sexualized comments made by D’Acampo on Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Roadtrip. In a 2024 email, Objective said he was “spoken to about the differences between on screen character material and behaviour off screen with members of the team,” Objective added that issues then arose on a different show, Emission Impossible, and a “complete and thorough process was carried out,” according to ITV News’ report.
Deadline understands neither ITV nor Objective have plans to work with D’Acampo in future and ITV hasn’t commissioned a show featuring him since 2023. An ITV statement said it is “completely committed to creating an environment where everyone is treated with respect and feels able to give of their best.” “Our promise to those we work with is that where a complaint is made, or serious concern raised, we will always investigate and if we find that something inappropriate has happened, we will take action. The same standards are expected of all production companies who make programmes on ITV’s behalf.”
Objective said it “takes the welfare and wellbeing of all its production staff and teams incredibly seriously.” “We have robust protocols and procedures in place for all cast and crew, including on-screen talent, that we review regularly whilst also ensuring that we take into account developments regarding industry wide ‘Duty of Care’ guidelines,” it added. “We have robust protocols and procedures in place for all cast and crew, including on-screen talent, that we review regularly whilst also ensuring that we take into account developments regarding industry wide ‘Duty of Care’ guidelines.”
The news follows recent allegations of inappropriate behavior from more than a dozen women against MasterChef presenter Gregg Wallace, who denies behavior of a sexually harassing nature. He is currently being investigated by producer Banijay and has stepped back from presenting. ITV has had issues with other top talent in the past such as Schofield and TV chef James Martin, who was rapped by ITV after being accused by his crew of bullying and intimidating behavior, revealed in a Deadline investigation.
On the 2011 allegation, D’Acampo’s lawyers said: “This allegation from almost 15 years ago has never, until now via a media request for comment, been raised or put to Mr D’Acampo. He does not recall it, nor accept that this happened. Mr D’Acampo is horrified to be accused of power play’ and an aggressive act.’ He emphatically and unequivocally denies these allegations.”
On the allegation that he opened the door in his boxer shorts and made a lewd remark, his lawyers said: “Mr D’Acampo categorically denies these allegations of inappropriate sexual behaviour. To his knowledge no such allegations have been made against him in relation to his time on ‘Gino’s Italian Express’ and this is the first time, six years later, he has been informed of these alleged incidents, and he does not accept them, not least because some of this is considered by Mr D’Acampo to be a fabricated work of fiction.”
On the ‘Cornetto’ incident, his legal team said: “Mr D’Acampo is mortified to be accused of saying inappropriate words to a junior member of staff on ‘Gino’s Italian Express’. He does not recall this incident at all, and the words alleged are absolutely not ones that he would say.”
D’Acampo’s general statement in full
“I have been told by ITN news that allegations have been made about me acting inappropriately, some dating back over ten years ago.
“I have never been made aware of these matters previously and the allegations are firmly denied. I would not do anything that I thought would upset or distress anyone. This is simply not in my nature. I do not recognise the version of events being put to me.
“Not only have these allegations never been raised with me before, I have been repeatedly supported by executives at the highest level and was commissioned on prime-time programmes during the period in which it is now suggested I was acting inappropriately.
“I am a father, husband and have worked with well over 1,500 people on around 80 productions in my career, which I have been so proud of. I take such matters extremely seriously and the suggestion that I have acted in an improper way against is deeply upsetting.”
