Transfer market expert Moises Llorens has informed Barça Universal that Barcelona are not ruling out the sale of Ronald Araujo for several reasons.

Interestingly, according to Llorens, Araujo’s departure does not just hinge on the club’s decision as the player’s desires will also play a significant role in this decision.

It must be noted that Araujo is currently under contract with Barcelona until 2026, giving him two more years before his deal expires. Despite this, Barcelona are already working to extend his stay, but they want to do it on their own terms.

Recently, interest in Araujo has skyrocketed, and Barcelona are now open to selling him because of their financial situation. They recognise that he has a high market value right now and could bring in a significant amount of money if sold.

Interestingly, Araujo’s agent also has not dismissed the idea of a transfer either, although nothing has been decided yet.

It is said that he would be a key player for Hansi Flick next season and while Barcelona have many centre-backs within their roster, none of them offer what Araujo does.

Key reasons why Araujo’s sale is being considered

In recent weeks, multiple clubs have approached Araujo, aware that his contract has only two years left. They know he has doubts about staying at Barcelona and has not yet responded to the club’s renewal offer.

This situation puts Barcelona in a difficult position as although Araujo is an important player for the team, there is also a considerable risk involved.

Firstly, with just two years remaining on his contract, if Araujo doesn’t renew by next year, Barcelona risk losing him for free. This means that the current transfer market offers them a prime opportunity to secure a lucrative deal for his sale.

Secondly, as Llorens mentioned, Araujo’s agents are open to his departure due to the significant interest from other clubs. This means there’s potential for a high-value transfer.

For now, Araujo is protected by a release clause worth €1 billion and Barcelona will only consider selling him if a massive offer exceeding €100 million comes in. This clause gives the club some leverage, but the situation remains uncertain.

In summary, Barcelona are contemplating the sale of Araujo for several reasons. The player’s contract situation, combined with high external interest and the club’s financial needs, makes this a strategic move.

Although Araujo is a vital part of the team, the risks associated with his contract and the potential financial gains from his sale are driving Barcelona’s decision.

The final decision will depend on the offers that come in and Araujo’s willingness to leave or stay.
