Getafe midfielder Chrisantus Uche continues to attract interest from Premier League clubs, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United the latest to express interest in the Nigerian, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
The 21-year-old is making a huge impact in his first season in the Spanish La Liga following his transfer from the Spanish third division in a summer transfer for €500,000.
Although he only registered one goal in the opening game against Athletic Club, his influence in midfield has been decisive, earning him close attention from clubs such as Chelsea and now Aston Villa and Newcastle, who look set to compete for his signature in January.
Able to also play in a central position, the midfielder brings the versatility and dynamism that Premier League sides look for in a box-to-box role, which is highly valued in English football.
Uche’s release clause is reportedly set at €25m, a considerably low figure compared to other targets on the market, such as Maccabi Tel Aviv talent Oscar Gloukh and the promising Kenan Yildiz, whom both clubs have also shown interest in.
His potential and experience in quickly adapting to the high demands of La Liga and his affordable release clause make him an attractive option in economic and sporting terms for Premier League clubs.
Former Super Eagles Samson Siasia was recently in Madrid to scout the player with the aim of recommending him to the national team.
The Owerri-born is the most fouled player in La Liga after 11 matches in the 2024/25 season, having been hacked down 32 times by opponents.
