That didn’t go well. AEW has shaken up the wrestling world as it has offered wrestling fans a new large scale wrestling promotion for the first time in several years. A good deal of AEW’s success can be credited to company President Tony Khan, who has been a major force in AEW. Now though, Khan has made a statement that has people talking and it has not been in the best way.

Khan was interviewed by the NFL Network as part of the 2024 NFL Draft and referred to WWE as the “Harvey Weinstein of pro wrestling.” Weinstein is a former Hollywood executive who has been convicted of multiple sexual assault allegations, including rape. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the backstage reaction to the comments in both WWE and AEW felt that the comments were “ridiculous”. Some in AEW who have friends in WWE were said to take exception to the comments. Khan has not commented on the reaction to his statement.

That didn’t go well. Check out some things in both promotions that have gone better:

Opinion: I’m not sure how else these comments were going to be taken. While the former boss of WWE and one of his executives were accused of doing some horrible things, there is a huge difference between some people who work at a company and that company as a whole. Talk about how you dislike WWE’s style or whatever all you like, but this was way too far and ridiculous, especially given the subject matter.

What did you think of Khan’s comments? What is the best thing in AEW at the moment? Let us know in the comments below.
