Manchester United welcomed their first cohort of players back for pre-season this morning as they get preparations underway for 2024/2025.

Of course, a host of Reds were absent from their teammates on Monday; Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Facundo Pellistri, Alejandro Garnacho and Lisandro Martinez are still involved with their nations at Euro 2024 and Copa America respectively, while those who recently exited international tournaments – such as Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot – will be given an extended break to rest and recover.

Mason Greenwood did report to Carrington for the first time since his loan spell with Getafe ended, although it was just to hold a short meeting with club executives regarding his prospective exit. Marseille are currently in pole position to sign the 22-year-old after submitting a £21 million bid earlier today.

Nevertheless, fans were treated to pictures of the players returning to the training complex with smiles on their faces. Many of them entered the summer as FA Cup champions and will be using that exhilarating feeling as motivation to lift silverware again next year.

Young Red seemingly has number changed ahead of pre-season tour

Eagle-eyed supporters were quick to spot what appeared to be a shirt number change for one defender: Willy Kambwala was seen sporting the brand-new training gear, which featured the number 32.

The youngster has worn the number 53 since making his first-team debut last December, so will presumably be one of several Reds to have their digits updated ready for a new season.
