Angie Stone’s Family Reportedly Releases Official Statement

According to 11Alive, on Monday, March 3, the family of the late Angie Stone released an official statement about her passing. The outlet reports that the statement was shared through the Weems Firm, an Atlanta-based law firm.

“It is with heavy hearts that the children of the R&B Singer Angie Stone along with her extended family want to thank you all for your love and well wishes at what is an extremely difficult time. Angie was an example for Black women and girls everywhere. Angie also loved and championed for Black Men with her number one hit entitled ‘Brotha,'” the statement reportedly reads. “Angie Stone believed in giving back to her fans and the community with her Foundation, ‘Angel Stripes, the Angie Stone Foundation.’ She lived and died doing what she loved most, which was music.”

Per the outlet, the statement added that Stone was a Zeta Phi Beta sorority member. Additionally, it reportedly stated that she recently attended the College for Ministry.

“Her love of God and her faith led her to have a deep desire to share her belief in God and bring more people to Christ,” the statement reportedly asserted before noting that funeral arrangements are being made for the late singer.

More Details Are Reported About The Fatal Car Crash That Claimed Her Life

As The Shade Room previously reported, news surfaced that Angie Stone was killed in a car crash after leaving a performance in Montgomery, Alabama. The crash reportedly occurred during the early hours of Saturday, March 1. According to AP News, the Alabama Highway Patrol has shared that the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van that Stone and her team were traveling in “overturned on Interstate 65… before being hit by a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia truck.”

Per the outlet, the crash reportedly occurred 5 miles south of Montgomery’s city limit. Additionally, Stone was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the sprinter’s driver and seven other passengers were taken to a hospital.

As of Sunday, March 2, per AP News, the fatal crash crash remains under investigation.

More Details On Angie Stone’s Recent Passing

As The Shade Room previously reported, a Facebook account believed to belong to the singer’s daughter, Diamond Stone, reacted to her passing on March 1. Furthermore, the account shared an initial message that read, “my mommy is gone [several crying emojis].”

A few hours later, the account shared another message that read, “Thanks for the outpouring of love today I’m not taking any calls right now I need to decompress.”
