Manchester United return to Europa League action this evening when they host Rangers at Old Trafford in an 8pm kick-off.
After the weekend’s dismal defeat at home to Brighton and Hove Albion, Ruben Amorim faces a complex decision as to whether he should stick with the line-up he’s grown to trust or opt to be ruthless and drop several underperformers.
Leading into tonight’s clash, fans had been contemplating whether Andre Onana would be dropped after he was directly at fault for United’s third conceded goal last Sunday; when attempting to claim a driven cross, he instead palmed the ball straight into the path of the pouncing Georginio Rutter, who swiftly brushed off Matthijs de Ligt and fired his strike into an open net.
Add the blunder to the fact that Altay Bayindir put in a stellar showing in his most recent outing against Arsenal, and Amorim certainly has a strong enough case to bench his No.1.

Bayindir shared a snap on his Instagram story previewing Thursday’s tie, which he usually only does when he is in line to start.

Since Amorim took the reins in November, Bayindir has made just two appearances, playing once in the FA Cup and once in the Carabao Cup. At the Emirates on January 12, he initially struggled with his goal-kick output before eventually finding his feet more in the second half, during which he saved Martin Odegaard’s penalty before going on to do the same in the shootout with Kai Havertz.
