VeryDarkMan on Police uniform
Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan or VDM, is scheduled to appear in court today over allegations of impersonation.
The charges stem from a recent viral video in which VeryDarkMan was seen in Nigeria Police Force uniforms “without authorisation.”
NPF had condemned VeryDarkMan, in the recently released video where he described himself as CSP VeryDarkMan and Nigeria’s “number one online police officer.”
Nigeria Police Force disclosed this in a Friday post on its X account.
According to the release, the FCT Police Command is spearheading the prosecution, emphasising the force’s stance on maintaining the integrity of its uniforms and preventing unauthorised usage.
The public is encouraged to stay informed as the case progresses in court.
The NPF’s statement read, “Martins Otse, is set to appear in court today following allegations of impersonation related to the unauthorised use of Nigeria Police Force uniforms in a viral social media video.
“The FCT Police Command is actively handling the case, underscoring the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to upholding the integrity of its symbols and preventing their misuse.
“Interested persons are encouraged to follow up on the proceedings as the case unfolds.”
Meanwhile, VeryDarkMan was detained by police on Thursday after responding to an official summons.
Although VDM’s offence was not spelt out, his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, said he was detained in a post on X on Thursday.
Adeyanju disclosed that his client had honoured a similar invitation on Wednesday.
His post read, “Our client, VDM, has been detained after honouring a police invitation just like yesterday. VDM has been consistent in stating that the Nigerian Police are our friends, even when we all know they are not.”
