Jose Mourinho, the eternal rival of FC Barcelona, arrived in the Catalan capital earlier today. The Portuguese tactician is currently unattached to any club after having been sacked by AS Roma not very long ago.
As it happens, Mourinho’s timing of arrival in Barcelona is curious, with the Blaugrana’s manager, Xavi Hernandez, under pressure due to recent results.
As such, the Portuguese tactician was asked at the airport about the possibility of him taking over at Barcelona. In response, Mourinho just smiled and shrugged it off.
— El Chiringuito TV (@elchiringuitotv) January 21, 2024It must be remembered that the former Real Madrid manager, who had previously spent time at Barça as an assistant, had tried for the head coach at the Catalan outfit in 2006, but was overlooked.
During his time as the Real Madrid manager, Mourinho fueled a fierce rivalry between the two clubs, one which even crossed some lines at times.
As such, the possibility of the former Chelsea boss taking over at the Catalan club are zero.
However, Barcelona might end up facing Mourinho again soon, though, as speculations suggest that he could be on his way to Napoli, who the Blaugrana face in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 next month.
