Manchester United started the game on the front foot and deserve to be ahead thanks to an opening goal from Scott McTominay.
It’s no more than what the Reds deserve after a bright start at Old Trafford. United have been pushing Liverpool from the initial stages of the game and now we hold a one-goal lead.
Alejandro Garnacho got in behind the Liverpool defence before his effort was denied by the Liverpool goalkeeper, but McTominay was in the right place at the right time to make it 1-0.
It will go down as McTominay’s ninth goal of the season.

Liverpool had an opportunity to open the scoring themselves shortly before McTominay found the back of the net. Mohamed Salah went close after connecting with a left-footed volley.
