Nollywood actress and producer, Ufuoma McDermott, has shared her experience with Stage 4 kidney disease, revealing how her struggles with chronic pain and drug abuse nearly claimed her life.
In an exclusive interview with Media Personality, Chude Jideonwo, McDermott disclosed that her health challenge began after losing her younger brother to kidney disease.
She said she was later diagnosed with Stage 3 kidney disease, which progressed to Stage 4 due to her delay in seeking treatment.
McDermott attributed her kidney disease to years of ingesting excessive painkillers.
She said in part, “I had pushed my body and I was borderline stage 4. Last year was a very very trying time in my life where I thought I was gonna die. I have battled chronic kidney disease for about 12 years now.”
