Watford v Luton prediction

Last weekend saw Watford end their run of four defeats in five matches with an impressive 1-0 win away win at Middlesbrough, the Hornets first win in six matches and just their second victory in all competitions since Boxing Day.

Tom Cleverley's side's victory on Teesside last weekend saw them overtake Boro in the table and take them back into the top 10, where they start this weekend just three points off the play-off places.

The Hertfordshire side had won nine of their opening 11 home games of the Championship season up Boxing Day, have their form at Vicarage Road has taken a dramatic turn for the worse, losing each of their last five matches in front of their home fans.

Luton make the short trip to Watford sat dead last in the Championship table, despite being the bookies' favourites to win the title at the start of the season.

The Hatters have failed to recover from their relegation from the Premier League last season and are currently on track to become the first team in eight years to record back-to-back relegations from the top flight.

Rob Edwards was sacked as manager of the Bedfordshire side early last month with side sat in 20th place and two points above the drop zone, but Matt Bloomfield's tenure since joining from Wycombe hasn't had the desired impact, with the club now rock bottom.

Luton make the trip to their rivals without having won a match in any competition since before Christmas, leaving them 12 games without a win heading into the weekend, a run which includes nine losses. Bloomfield has earned three points from his seven games in charge.

The Hatters have won only once on the road all season, coming way back in September, leaving them 14 games without victory on the road in all competitions.

Watford's getting back to winning ways last weekend puts them very much back in the play off race, while Luton's 12 game winless run makes them huge underdogs for Sunday's derby. I can see only a Watford win taking place - I'm predicting a 2-0 home win.

Watford v Luton betting tips

Luton sit rock bottom of the Championship table with out a win in 12 games, losing nine of those, and currently showing no sign of putting that run to and end after only managing a draw at home against 23rd side Plymouth on Wednesday night.

Watford have struggled of late but got back to winning ways at Middlesbrough last weekend, leaving them just three points off the top six and putting them firmly back in play-off contention.

Watford's on loan Ivorian striker Vakoun Bayo leads their goal scoring charts this season with 10 to his name and will be champing at the bit to get back on the patch after serving the last of his three match suspension during last week's win at the Riverside.
