WCQ 2026: Nigeria suffer shock 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have today, suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic in a 2026 World Cup qualifier after their first three matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers ended in draws.

The Super Eagles hoped to bounce back from their sluggish start with the battle against Benin Republic today in their fourth game of the qualifying series.

The Super Eagles took the lead in Abidjan through Raphael Onyedika’s fine right-footed shot.

However, Gernot Rohr’s men scored twice before the break putting The Cheetahs in the lead.

Nigeria currently has just a miserable three points from four World Cup qualification games and are at the risk of missing the next football tournament.
