Stakeholders of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 19 Northern States, under the Concerned NNPP Stakeholders, have issued a vote of no confidence in Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State.
In a communique released on Monday and jointly signed by the group’s President, Hon. Attahiru Musa, Secretary, Hon. Simon Pam, and others, the NNPP chieftains expressed disappointment with the direction of the party, particularly in Kano State.
“The party’s leadership in the state is presently worse than the government at the center and the previous administration,” the communique stated.
They highlighted the initial promise of Governor Abba Yusuf as a harbinger of change from previous administrations, but lamented that the NNPP leadership had failed to live up to expectations.
“Kano State was supposed to be the model for the Federal Government to follow, but we have been left in disappointment without a voice to challenge the APC government,” they asserted.
The discord between Governor Abba Yusuf and his predecessor, Umar Ganduje, who is currently the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been evident. The state government has expressed intentions to prosecute Ganduje over alleged financial misappropriation during his tenure as governor.
