When Vinicius plays agent for Real Madrid

Real Madrid are already preparing their summer recruitment and have once again called upon one of their star players to convince one of their targets to join them.

As Vinicius Junior did with Jude Bellingham last season, Real Madrid decided to use the Brazilian’s argument again. According to Relevo, Vinicius has spoken to Alphonso Davies, the left back of Bayern Munich, several times in recent months, with the same goal. Vinicius has a good relationship with Davies and the Canadian defender is one of Los Blancos’ main targets for next summer. Their strategy, as has been the case for some time, is to convince Davies not with money, but with their sporting ambitions and the lifestyle in Spain.

Real Madrid have good relations with Bayern Munich, but have not started negotiations with the latter for a transfer which is expected to amount to 40-50 million euros next summer. The Madrid outlet points out that Bayern rarely let their star players leave for free and that Davies has so far resisted contract offers from Bayern, with his current contract expiring in 2025. The Whites do not want to alienate the Bavarians and also don’t want other clubs to get into a bidding war.

This strategy seems to be working well, as evidenced by the fact that other clubs are using it. Perhaps the most egregious case in recent Spanish football was FC Barcelona players putting a Blaugrana shirt on Cesc Fabregas while he was on duty in Spain, but it seems relatively common for big clubs to leverage the relationships they have in order to move transactions in the right direction.
