Why Kylie Jenner skipped SAG Awards 2025 despite Timothée Chalamet being nominated — and winning 

Kylie Jenner did not attend the 2025 SAG Awards with boyfriend Timothée Chalamet due to the heartbreaking death of her close friend and longtime hairstylist, Jesus Guerrero.

The awards show kicked off Sunday following the sad news that the beloved beauty expert had died “unexpectedly” at the age of 34.

“It is with a heavy heart that we let the world know that Jesus Guerrero has gone to heaven,” the beautician’s sister Gris Guerrero announced via a GoFundMe page Saturday.

“He is a son, a brother, an uncle, an artist, a friend, and so much more,” she continued. “Unfortunately, his passing came very suddenly and unexpectedly.”

Jesus’ official cause of death has yet to be revealed. His family shared via Instagram over the weekend that they’ve “fallen into tears repeatedly reminiscing and wondering what [they] could of [sic] done different [sic] to still have him with [them].”

Jenner, 27, has yet to publicly comment on the late hair guru’s death. The two had a tight bond, with the Kylie Cosmetics founder frequently posting pics of Jesus and his impressive work to her various social media accounts over the years.

Jenner has been a fixture at awards shows this season supporting Chalamet. Her actor beau, 29, walked the SAG Awards carpet solo in a black leather blazer suit with a pop of neon green.

He later took home the best actor award for his role as Bob Dylan in the 2024 biopic, “A Complete Unknown.”

Due to Jenner’s absence, Chalamet attended the awards show with his mom, Nicole Flender.

The mother-son duo were seated next to each other inside the awards show ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Chalamet appeared absolutely stunned as he took home the coveted trophy, expressing to the audience that he had dreams of being one of the greats.

“I’m as inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis and Marlon Brando and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps, and I want to be up there,” he told the crowd while accepting the honor.

“So I’m deeply grateful to that. This does not signify that, but it’s a little more fuel, it’s a little more ammo to keep going. Thank you so much.”

Chalamet later revealed what his mother — a Broadway dancer-turned New York City real estate agent — told him after he was announced as the winner. The moment was extra special as he made history as the youngest actor to accept the best actor SAG award.

“She said, ‘Don’t forget to fold your laundry,’” Chalamet joked in a post-show interview with Extra. “And I was like, ‘Really? This moment? Really, this moment? I just won this award and I’m 29 years old and you’re chastising me still?’”

He then went on to thank the family matriarch for his success, joking to the outlet, “She might have won me this because she — you know, I grew up in an actor’s building in New York, so I know she really pushed everyone she knew to hit that vote button.”

Earlier this year, Jenner made a splash when she attended the Golden Globes as Chalamet’s date. The couple also showed some heavy PDA at the 2025 BAFTA Awards last week.

It’s unclear at this time whether Jenner will be by Chalamet’s side at the 2025 Oscars next weekend.

The “Wonka” star is nominated for an Academy Award in the category for best actor in a leading role, against fellow nominees Adrien Brody (“The Brutalist”), Ralph Fiennes (“Conclave”), Colman Domingo (“Sing Sing”) and Sebastian Stan (“The Apprentice”).
