Wike Loses Out As Fubara Replaces His Men With His Strong Loyalists In All LGAs (FULL LIST)

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has nominated caretaker chairmen for the 23 local government areas of the state.

The tenure of the previous chairmen, who are aligned with the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, ended on Monday.

A crisis erupted as these former chairmen attempted to remain in office, citing a six-month tenure extension granted by the pro-Wike faction of the Rivers House of Assembly, due to Governor Fubara’s failure to conduct local government elections. However, Fubara instructed the chairmen to hand over power to the Heads of Administration, directing them to await further orders.

Governor Fubara has now submitted a list of caretaker nominees to the faction of the Assembly that supports him. In response, House Clerk G.M. Gillis-West, under the leadership of Victor Jumbo, has invited these nominees for screening on Wednesday.
