This close. There are all kinds of titles in WWE and in recent years, they have not changed hands as often as they had in the past. That makes for a very different style of title match, as a title changing hands is seen as a much bigger moment. It makes even a title match feel more important, and that was the case again this week. As it turns out, things might have been set to go in a different direction.

The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Gunther successfully defend the Intercontinental Title against Jey Uso with an assist from Jimmy Uso. According to WrestleVotes, there were multiple people in WWE who believed that the title would be changing hands. Various show rundowns had Jey winning the title until as late as two hours before the show started. There is a chance that these plans were fakes to find leaks or WWE may have changed plans for some unknown reason.
