The potential decision to replace Cody Rhodes with The Rock in the WrestleMania 40 match against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title has generated significant backlash from WWE’s dedicated fan base. WWE has been trying to deal with anti-Rock reactions since then but it appears the company lacks an official mandate in that regard.

The fans’ sentiments were unmistakably expressed during this week’s RAW, particularly in the Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes segment. Loud ‘Rocky Sucks’ chants, reminiscent of The Rock’s WWE debut in 1996, resonated throughout the arena.

WWE also suppressed anti-Rock chants during this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. This was not the first time this week that WWE took measures in order to suppress The Rock getting negative reactions as well.

According to Sean Ross Sapp behind Fightful’s paywall, WWE has no official mandate on how to handle anti-Rock reactions. The approach was taken on a case-by-case basis, with the lead producer making the decisions. The crowd chants were reportedly muted for Ava Raine during the segment on NXT as well.
