The January 7th episode of WWE NXT will be the annual New Year’s Evil special edition of the show and it marks the first episode of NXT this year, so WWE has booked a card that fans will love from top to bottom.
NXT Heritage Cup Sudden Death Rules: Lexis King (c) vs. Charlie Dempsey
Lexis King puts his Heritage Cup on the line against Charlie Dempsey. King’s unpredictable offense makes him dangerous, but Dempsey’s in-ring prowess give him a real chance to win. Under Sudden Death Rules, one mistake could cost the match, so both men will have to be on their A-game to pick up the win. Naturally, it could go either way this time around.
#1 Contender’s Match for the NXT Women’s North American Championship: Cora Jade vs. Kelani Jordan vs. Lola Vice vs. Stephanie Vaquer
Four women will fight for the chance to challenge for the NXT Women’s North American Championship, where everyone has a good chance at winning. Cora Jade is the most experienced, but Kelani Jordan, Lola Vice, and Stephanie Vaquer are ready to prove themselves and get a shot at Fallon Henley’s NXT Women’s North American Championship. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see who will come out on top in the end.
Gigi Dolin, Shotzi & Tatum Paxley vs. Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx)
Gigi Dolin, Shotzi, and Tatum Paxley will take on the dangerous group of Fatal Influence during NXT this week. They have been feuding for the past few weeks and Shotzi Blackheart’s return helped Dolin and Paxley fight back, so it’s likely this match will finally bring their feud to an end. It remains to be seen who will end up winning the highly anticipated match.
The Rock Will Appear
Following his appearance during the January 6 episode of Monday Night RAW, The Rock took to Instagram and stated that he will be appearing at New Year’s Evil this week. It’ll be interesting to see what The Great One will have to say, as he will likely be joined by his daughter Ava.
NXT Women’s Championship: Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Giulia
Roxanne Perez will put her NXT Women’s Championship on the line against Giulia, in a rematch from their previous bout during the debut episode of NXT on the CW Network. Giulia has proven she is more than ready to start off 2025 by becoming the NXT Women’s Champion, but Perez will do anything she can to retain the title. Therefore, fans can’t wait to see who will walk out as the champion once and for all.
NXT Championship: Trick Williams (c) vs. Oba Femi vs. Eddy Thorpe
Trick Williams is in for the fight of his life as he will be defending his NXT Championship against two formidable opponents this time around. Oba Femi had been absolutely dominant as the NXT North American Champion while Eddy Thorpe has been showing a new level of viciousness lately. Williams certainly has his work cut out for him, so fans continue to wonder who will leave the show as the NXT Champion.
