Fans are always happy when a tag team that hasn’t teamed up in a while reunite and even ends up winning a match. That is exactly what happened during this week’s episode of NXT, as Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes won their first match as a tag team in several months.

During this week’s episode of NXT, the highlights included the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic quarterfinals featured matchups between Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams versus Malik Blade & Edris Enofe, as well as Duke Hudson & Riley Osborne against Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde.

Leading up to the bout, Carmelo Hayes’ participation was uncertain due to an incident in a previous match on SmackDown where a move went awry, resulting in Austin Theory landing on his head. Theory is currently in medical protocol, and his status for future matches remains uncertain.

Despite the uncertainty, Hayes teamed up with Trick Williams in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic quarterfinals and emerged victorious, advancing in the tournament. This marked their first match together in 175 days, having last teamed up on the July 25th episode of NXT alongside NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov in a match against The Schism (Jagger Reid, Joe Gacy & Rip Fowler).

We will have to wait and see whether Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams will end up winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, as fans would love to see that happen as well.
