Nick Khan explained how an appearance on Wheel of Fortune helped him pass the Bar exam and become a lawyer.
The WWE President made an appearance on the TV game show Wheel of Fortune in 2000. He won over $16,000, which was a huge sum of money back then. The episode was broadcast on December 25th, 2000, and was his first foray into the world of television.
Speaking at Preview Las Vegas, Nick Khan spoke about how appearing on Wheel of Fortune helped him pass the bar exam. He explained how he was stretched thin and needed more time to study, so winning huge sums on TV game shows seemed the obvious choice.

“I left to go to law school. I was a lawyer and worked full-time through law school,” Nick Khan said. “Anyone here work as a lawyer or took the bar [exam]? I knew for myself that I couldn’t work full-time and study for the bar for two months and pass,” Khan explained. “I needed to take those two months off. So, when you come from pretty humble beginnings — and I think my overhead was $2,000 a month? It [seems insignificant now], but then, it was everything. So I thought to myself, there was no rich uncle I could borrow $5,000 from, so what do I do?
“This was 1999 going into 2000, I sent a postcard to Wheel of Fortune. I got a letter in the mail saying, ‘Come audition for Wheel of Fortune.’ I went to the audition, there were 1,000 people auditioning. Fortunately for me, out of the 1,000, about 900 of them were 90 years or older,’ he continued. “I [did a try-out], I spun the wheel and said, ‘T.’ They said, ‘Hey, you’re on the show.’
“I went on Wheel of Fortune and won $16,500,” Nick Khan noted. ”And when your bank account goes from zero to $16,500, I thought, ‘I’m never going to have to work again!’ I quit my job, studied for the bar, and passed.”
Khan practiced law in California for seven years before he realized he wanted to find another career path. He started working with Manny Pacquiao, who was an unknown fighter at the time. Pacquiao’s career blew up after that, as did Khan’s, who ultimately became Co-Head of Television at CAA. Khan joined WWE in 2020 as Chief Revenue Officer and serves as company President.
