WWE SmackDown saw a decrease in viewership on January 3 with the shift to a three-hour show.
According to Wrestlenomics (via Programming Insider), SmackDown averaged 1.528 million viewers on Friday. The show drew a 0.45 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic. The viewership is down from last week’s episode when an average of 1.568 million viewers tuned in. The demo rating is level with last week’s show (0.45 rating in the same demographic).
SmackDown ranked #2 on cable in primetime in the 18 to 49 demographic. The show was up against the Mayo Bowl college football on ESPN, as well as a college basketball game between Michigan State and Ohio State.

What happened on WWE SmackDown this week?
This week’s show kicked off with a promo from Cody Rhodes, he was interrupted by Drew McIntyre before being attacked from behind by Kevin Owens.
Following the WWE Women’s Championship match between Nia Jax and Naomi, Tiffany Stratton cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase on Jax to win the title.
Elsewhere on the show, DIY and Motor City Machine Guns wrestled to a no contest due to interference from Pretty Deadly and Legado del Fantasma.
In the main event of the evening, the New Bloodline picked up a win over Sami Zayn and The Usos thanks to an assist from Drew McIntyre.
