The choice to potentially replace Cody Rhodes with The Rock in the WrestleMania 40 match against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title has sparked substantial backlash from WWE’s devoted fan base. In light of this, it appears WWE suppressed anti-Rock chants during this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW.

Last week’s SmackDown ended on a tense note as The Rock confronted Roman Reigns, introduced by Cody Rhodes. This seemingly led to Rhodes forfeiting his WrestleMania 40 title shot, provoking fan outrage. Fans hoped for Rhodes to conclude his storyline at WrestleMania, and the potential disruption of that possibility has resulted in considerable backlash against WWE.

The fans’ sentiments were heard loud and clear during this week’s RAW, especially in the Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes segment, where loud ‘Rocky Sucks’ chants reminiscent of The Rock’s WWE debut in 1996 echoed through the arena.

Some fans noticed how the crowd felt incredibly muted during the main event of RAW, which saw Cody Rhodes square off against Shinsuke Nakamura. As revealed by footage making rounds online, it was revealed that WWE suppressed negative fan reaction to The Rock, as fans were loudly chanting ‘Rocky Sucks’ during the bout.

This isn’t the first time this week that WWE took measures in order to suppress The Rock getting negative reactions as well. We will have to wait and see whether fan reactions will end up changing WWE’s plans for WrestleMania 40, as it seems unlikely right now.
