In the past couple of years, WWE has undergone significant changes, experiencing substantial growth in its business. The company is putting more emphasis on the “sports” aspect of its ‘Sports Entertainment’ brand, by taking inspiration from the UFC for their sports-centric elements.
It was previously reported that WWE and Netflix confirmed the groundbreaking deal to shift Monday Night RAW to the streaming service starting in January 2025. The reported deal is valued at over $5 billion for duration of ten years.
Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter talked about WWE’s production changes under Lee Fitting, where he indicated shift towards making the show feel more like a sports broadcast.
Meltzer added that elements such as the UFC/boxing style taped segments, showcasing arrivals with clocks and other sports show features, will be incorporated in the coming weeks as well.
“There will be more elements done to make the show feel more like a sports show, such as the UFC/boxing style taped showing the arrivals of Punk and Rhodes to the building with the clock and other elements of sports shows that Fitting has produced will be added in. This should become more and more evident in the weeks to come.”
It remains to be seen what other kinds of sports-centric elements WWE will be adding to their regular programming. Presentation is key and WWE is determined to improve their product in every single way, especially in that aspect.
