The future of Vitor Roque is increasingly becoming the hottest topic at FC Barcelona as we move closer to the summer transfer window.

Once regarded as one of Brazil’s biggest talents, Roque has dwarfed into irrelevance just five months into his spell at Barcelona.

The youngster has indeed fallen behind the likes of Lamine Yamal, Joao Felix and even Ferran Torres in the pecking order. His lack of game time has now led to uncertainty over his future at Camp Nou.

Xavi and Deco disagree over Roque

A recent report from Cadena SER has highlighted that Vitor Roque’s poor start has divided the Barcelona board members as well.

The technical team, led by Xavi Hernandez, is not in favour of retaining Roque this summer, especially after seeing him struggle in training.

Their idea is to loan out the Brazilian, with several European clubs ready to snap up his services in the coming summer.

However, Xavi’s team faces opposition from sporting director Deco, who believes that Roque still has quality and can make an impact at Camp Nou.

Can Barcelona reach a conclusion?

The disagreement between Xavi and Deco does not bode well for Barcelona as a whole. However, Deco is unlikely to make any effort to keep Roque if the coach does not trust his qualities.

Therefore, a move away from Camp Nou appears to be the most likely scenario for the former Athletico Paranaense starlet this summer.

Roque’s agent has made it clear that if Barcelona want to get rid of him, it has to be a permanent deal. Barça, though, favour a loan deal as they do not want to completely lose the player.

A lot may boil down to Barcelona’s Financial Fair Play margins. The club, after all, will be aware that Roque can fetch a substantial sum in the market, should they require emergency funds to sign new players this summer.
