Earlier today, we reported that Barcelona President Joan Laporta and Vice President Rafa Yuste have informally asked Xavi that if he wants, he can continue for another season.

Following up on the story, a report from SPORT has emerged, claiming that Xavi is absolutely sure about his decision and will not continue beyond the ongoing season.

There is absolutely nothing that can change his mind. This means the manager will leave even if Barcelona somehow manage to win the UEFA Champions League this season.

Xavi has made his mind

Despite efforts from Laporta and Yuste, Xavi has firmly decided to leave his position as the coach of Barcelona, and there’s no changing his mind.

This is because leaving Barcelona was not a decision that was made hastily. Xavi spent months reflecting with his close circle before deciding to step down from the Blaugrana bench.

The decision was not solely based on wins or losses, although those were considered. Xavi observed internal dynamics within the club and noted a lack of unity in the sports structure, affecting the team’s day-to-day life.

Additionally, the short-term approach to the club’s operations did not seem conducive to stability and building a successful project.

Xavi surprised by responses

It is to be noted that Xavi announced his decision in late January and surprisingly, the manager received interest from several clubs shortly after.

Although the names of these clubs are not disclosed, they are described as “five clubs among the twenty best in Europe.”

Despite the interest from other clubs, Xavi’s plan is not to coach any team next season. Unless an irresistible offer comes in terms of sports, economics, and personal life, he and his loyal coaching staff intend to take a sabbatical year.

All this means Barcelona will now have to revert to their finding of the new the coach, something that has proven to be a hectic task for the management.
