Over the past few days, speculations that Xavi Hernandez will be sacked from his post as Barcelona manager have been growing strong.
It has been claimed that the 44-year-old’s comments before the Almeria game allegedly upset Joan Laporta, who decided to axe the club legend and has no intentions of changing his mind.
In fact, reports earlier today suggested that there was not even a 1% chance that Xavi would continue at Barça next season.
Xavi’s future still undecided
However, as per Mundo Deportivo, contrary to speculations, Barcelona sources indicate that Xavi’s future is still not decided.
‘Nothing has been decided,’ they insist.
Instead, the 44-year-old Spanish tactician’s future will be decided early next week once the team returns from the final La Liga game against Sevilla.
A meeting will take place between Xavi and the other stakeholders, either on Sunday itself or a day or two later.
Xavi and Joan Laporta will be present and will further be joined by the sporting director, Deco, the sporting vice-president, Rafa Yuste, as well as the rest of the members of the club’s sporting management. It is possible that Alejandro Echevarría will also be among them.
At the summit next week, Deco will be in charge of reading the technical report of the season, which will highlight the things that have been done well and the things that have not been done well.
After that, the decision will be taken as to whether or not Xavi will serve out the remaining year of his contract. The decision taken at that meeting will then have to be endorsed at the board meeting, which is also scheduled for next week.
