With the summer transfer window not very far away, Barcelona are starting to lay down the groundwork for their operations to make changes to their squad.
At least two new additions are being sought while there are likely to be multiple casualties from the current squad as well.
However, one player who appears to be safe from the swinging axe, for now, is forward Ferran Torres, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Ferran considered an ‘important’ player
As per the update, Barcelona consider Ferran Torres to be an important player and are not actively looking to offload him in the summer transfer window.
After all, ‘The Shark’ has proven to be a vital asset for Xavi and Barça this season, much more than what many expected from him.
Indeed, Ferran has netter 11 goals and set up four more from 38 games in all competitions, making some vital contributions to the Catalans’ cause.
The winger has always insisted that he is happy and considering that the club needs income, he might still be in the shop window, although Barcelona will not give him away cheaply.
Xavi will seek a better replacement
Furthermore, the report states that if Barcelona indeed go ahead with the sale of Ferran in the summer, Xavi will ask the club to sign a better replacement for the Spanish international.
It could prove to be a challenge, considering that Barcelona have other priorities for the summer market and the fact that Torres is a unique talent capable of playing across the frontline with an exceptional sense of timing and movement.
