It’s Election Day (Tuesday, November 5), which means millions of Americans are casting their votes right now to determine their political representatives, including the next President of the United States.

Didn’t get a chance to register to vote yet? You’re in luck: in nearly 40% of states in the United States, you can still register to vote on the same day as Election Day, according to The National Conference of State Legislatures.

Same-day voter registration is available in some states that are expected to be big battlegrounds at the polls, including Wisconsin, Michigan and Nevada.

Here is a list of states that allow some form of same-day voter registration, via The National Conference of State Legislatures:

California

Colorado

Connecticut

Hawaii

Idaho

Illinois

Iowa

Maine

Maryland

Michigan

Minnesota

Montana

Nevada

New Hampshire

New Mexico

Utah

Vermont

Virginia

Washington

Wisconsin

Wyoming

The District of Columbia also allows same-day registration.

As for North Dakota: “North Dakota does not require voter registration, but you do need to have a valid form of identification that can be used for voting. This means you should make sure you have proper identification with you before you go to the polls to vote,” the North Dakota Secretary of State’s website explains.
