Zoe Sager looks back on her encounter with “Speedball” Mike Bailey.
In March 2024, “The Intangible” Zoe Sager put herself, and her Love Pro Wrestling Challenge Championship, to the ultimate test. For this occasion, at LPW 24, Sager was pitted against TNA’s “Speedball” Mike Bailey in a match that saw her LPW Challenge Championship raised on the line. Despite Bailey’s experience advantage, Sager remained resilient throughout their in-ring battle, eventually landing two Zed Factors for the win.
During a recent interview with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay, Sager opened up about the “crazy” sensation of wrestling Bailey, who now reigns as TNA’s X-Division Champion.
“That one was super, super crazy because Speedball is obviously very, very, very, very talented, but he wasn’t necessarily on my radar for even the potential to wrestle,” Sager said. “I have a couple of people that I’m like, ‘These will never happen.’ Our worlds were so separate that it’s just like,’OK, that’s definitely not going to happen type of thing.’ I think I was told in January that it was going to happen. And I remember just being like, ‘You’re lying,’ but that match was a lot of fun.”
Adjusting To A New In-Ring Style
“I was very, very nervous going into it,” Zoe Sager continued. “I’ve done a little bit of the super-fast paced style, but only with people that I’ve wrestled with and trained with before. So it was the first time knowing that I’m going to have to figure out another person’s timing with that kind of style, kind of a first touch sort of thing.”
“So that was a little bit intimidating, just not having a super lot of experience with that style outside of people that I’ve practiced with, but I had a lot of fun. I had a blast in that match, I learned quite a bit. I would love to be able to have it again, maybe out east in their turf.”
Following her victory over Bailey, Sager emerged victorious once again at LPW 25, this time in a successful title defense over Rich King. In May, however, Sager’s LPW Challenge Championship reign came to a dramatic end as her mentor Michael Richard Blais defeated her by via submission at LPW 26.
