Bruno Fernandes is absent from Manchester United’s matchday squad for this evening’s clash with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

As such, the club captain will miss his first-ever game through injury after four years at the club.

While it’s a great shame to see the feat come to an end, it’s astounding that he even made it this far anyway, especially given that he starts every game and will usually play the full 90 minutes.

No McTominay or Fernandes here. #mufc

His exact problem is unconfirmed, although he did break his right hand during the FA Cup semi-final win over Coventry City and was still wearing a protective medical cast towards the end of last week.

It’s been evident on numerous occasions that Fernandes has played through pain to ensure he’s been available for United. Hopefully, he can now get some more-than-deserved rest and come back fit and healthy for the remainder of the season, as well as the cup final.
