Afa the Wild Samoan Set to be Discharged After Battling Two Heart Attacks

WWE Hall of Famer Afa Anoa’i, renowned as one-half of the iconic Wild Samoans tag team, recently recovered from pneumonia as well as two heart attacks. Now, he will finally be out of the hospital.

Afa was hospitalized due to pneumonia, and upon admission, he experienced mild heart attack. Subsequently, he had a “second small heart attack” during his stay. At the time, Afa was not entirely out of the woods yet. Afterwards, a Facebook post mentioned that he was in good spirits and doing okay. He was expected to stay in the hospital for a day or two for observation and monitoring.

“Update on Afa the Wild Samoan, affectionately known as Pops: Afa was admitted to the hospital last night with pneumonia, but had a mild heart attack upon arrival. Today, he had a second small heart attack and was sent for a heart catheterization. He is doing ok, his spirits are high. He isn’t out of the woods yet, but will be kept in the hospital for a day or two for observation and monitoring. He thanks everyone for their concern, continued love, and prayers.”

WXW Wrestling, which is Afa’s own promotion, took to Twitter and officially announced that the WWE Hall of Famer will be discharged from the hospital today after his recent stay.

It’s been a harrowing few days, but our beloved Pops, #WWE Hall of Famer Afa the Wild Samoan, is coming home from the hospital today! He battles pneumonia and two mild heart attacks, but in his own words: “I kicked out at 1!””



It’s worth mentioning that Afa underwent two exploratory heart procedures in December, aimed at assessing his valves. During that time, there was an indication that he might require a valve replacement. A follow-up appointment had been scheduled for December 20 to discuss the next steps.

Despite health challenges, the WWE Hall of Famer remains resilient and determined, which is clear as day in his positive attitude and ongoing contributions to the wrestling community. Fans are glad the professional wrestling legend will be out of the hospital and continue to pray for his health.
