FC Barcelona would also covet one of the greatest promises in Argentine football.

The young River Plate striker, Felipe Esquivel, is in the crosshairs of FC Barcelona. The Blaugrana club are convinced that he is a future great and are willing to bet big to obtain his services.

Barça smells the right move

FC Barcelona missed the opportunity to recruit Claudio Echeverri, who chose to join Manchester City. Furthermore, Franco Mastantuono seems to prefer to join Real Madrid. But according to the Catalan daily Sport, FC Barcelona is now interested in another talent from River Plate.

Esquivel, 16, has yet to make his senior debut. He mainly plays as a right winger and has a contract until 2026 at River.

He has impressed FC Barcelona recruiters, but other major European clubs are also said to be after him. Esquivel has a buyout clause of 30 million euros.
