Jadon Sancho has spoken out on Saturday’s Champions League final heartache with a parting message to Borussia Dortmund fans.
The Manchester United winger has now played the final game of his loan spell with the German side, and unfortunately for him, it ended in despair.
Dortmund fell to a 2-0 defeat against now-champions Real Madrid, who claimed their 15th European title at Wembley in emphatic fashion.
In fairness to Eden Terzic, his men were undoubtedly the better side in the first half, which Carlo Ancelotti even admitted post-match. However, a lack of clinical finishing and failure to take such clear-cut chances will haunt the Dortmund squad for some time now, as Madrid were there to capitalise in the second half and reign victorious.
Nevertheless, Sancho’s return to Old Trafford is just another issue on Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s to-do list this summer. Dortmund cannot afford to sign the 24-year-old permanently, and another loan doesn’t benefit United in any way.
Reports have suggested that the player would be willing to don United red again next season, providing Erik ten Hag is no longer in the dugout. As it stands, this is still a possibility, but it remains to be seen if he’ll get his wish or whether he will be welcomed back with open arms.

Sancho bids farewell to Dortmund… again
He took to social media this afternoon to issue a statement on Saturday’s affairs while expressing his gratitude to Dortmund for taking him on board in January.
“What a crazy six months,” Sancho penned in an Instagram post.
“We win together we lose together, these moments only make us stronger! I’m so grateful to be a part of such an amazing group of players!
“I want to congratulate Real Madrid on winning the Champions League. We came up short on the night, but we should be super proud of ourselves. We are a family and these moments won’t break us! Thank you to everybody who came out to support us on such a special day!”
“@BVB I want to thank everyone involved at such an amazing club,” he continued. “I can’t thank you enough for welcoming me back the way you all have during these last six months.
“Thank you to Edin Terzic, Sebastian Kehl and Hans-Joachim Watzke for believing in me and bringing me back.
“Finally a special thank you to the BVB fans. Your support is amazing and I’m forever thankful for you all!”
